Law Enforcement Explorer Iliana Zavala is a member of Post 1490 sponsored by the Nassau County (NY) Police Department. She has held many different leadership positions in her Post and currently serves at the Chief responsible for the program and activities of the eight Law Enforcement Explorer Posts sponsored by the Nassau County Police Department. Iliana has been a member of Post 1490 since her freshman year in high school in 2008.

Explorer Zavala graduated in June 2012 from Uniondale High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Science research program, track team and Battalion Commander of the JROTC program. She is a student at Hofstra University where she is majoring in pre-law. Explorer Zavala plans to become a member of the Nassau County Police Department upon graduation from college.

Explorer Zavala is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from her school, community and Law Enforcement Exploring to include the Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence sponsored by her school, the Character and Leadership Award for Law Enforcement Exploring sponsored by Post 1490, and the Superior Cadet Award as well as Cadet of the Year Award sponsored by JROTC.

Explorer Zavala was elected by her peers as the 2012-2014 Vice National Youth Representative for Law Enforcement Exploring.
